Busy, busy, busy...

So far, this week has been a busy week for all of us. Mr W has been very busy at work, whilst the girls, in addition to busying themselves with Easter decorations...

have been enjoying book week at school.

Yesterday, I was a "mystery reader" for Betsy's class, so went in to read an old family favourite, My Uncle is a Hunkle by Lauren Child . All the children were sooo sweet - a little bit of fidgeting and before you know it, half have them have moved without you realising! Tomorrow, they can dress up as a character of their choice. Needless to say, Pickle is going as Clarice Bean, whilst Betsy is (I think) going as Lola (another Lauren Child creation).

Good job it's only one more day before the Easter holidays!

Finally did it...

I know, I know, I didn't post anything on Friday, be it crafty or otherwise, and I apologise. I have however finally finished the Easter bunting and am quite pleased with it. All I need to do now is find some hooks or some such to hang it up with, rather than sellotape... oh well, you can't have everything!

The girls have nearly finished decorating their eggs. They just need ribbon adding, then we should be able to hang them on Pickle's tree. Will aim to have that done by Wednesday in time for show and tell.

Happy week everyone x

Slow (or should that be no) progress...

Mmmm.....as you can see, the chores are taking over, so creativity has come to a halt. Am very much hoping that I will have something to show and tell by Friday, but who knows?

Here's hoping x

Feeling creative...

I've started to rummage through my fabric collection, vintage and new, for a little inspiration. Having failed to make anything since I don't know when, the creative urge is stirring again. Pickle and her friend made beds for their cuddlies the other weekend...

So I thought it was about time I did something myself.

Over the last few days, I've been flicking through magazines, mulling things over, thinking of Easter and new girlfriends' birthdays. I hope to have something to show later this week.

Have a good week x

Fairy cake heaven...

So, the fairy cakes were made in our horrible brown kitchen but they came out looking just as good as ever

Pickle & Betsy then got down to the serious business of decorating them...

Lazy days...

Today, after lots of sightseeing/traipsing around (depending on whether your mum or dad), mum and I thought we'd have a relaxing girly day.

So, we started off with a manicure/pedicure, shopped a little bit, managed to squeeze in a delicious frozen yoghurt (they're 100% fat free you know!) picked up the girls from school and then whizzed them off to The National Museum of Singapore's 'Singapore Living Galleries - Fashion'.

What we hadn't realised was that this would also give us access to the History of Singapore exhibition. Absolutely brilliant, loved it. We must have spent an hour and a half in there. We all had our own multi media audio visual kit (included in the entry fee) - there's a version specifically for children as well - and it takes you from the 1400s up to the 1970s. Absolutely definitely brilliant and worth another trip - think we might even persuade Mr W next time!

See you Friday. xx

Food, glorious food...

On Sunday we have had the most delicious brunch at The Fullerton Hotel. Every type of food you could possibly imagine, from curries to roasts, pasta (Betsy's idea of heaven) to sushi. And the cakes were out of this world, all washed down with some delicious bubbly. Definitely a lovely mothers day treat.

Have a great week x

They're here!

Parents have arrived, banners were made in anticipation of their arrival, and tears were shed. It's brilliant to have them here and lovely to wake up this morning knowing they were in the next room (although sleepy heads that they were, they didn't get up until 10ish having spent most of the night reading)! Hopefully it won't take them long to shake off the jet lag.

And they came with lots of goodies from home (hence the photo at the top) and 2 beautiful cushions that mum had made, one for Pickle...

and one for Betsy...

Oh, it is good to see them again. Wishing you all a lovely week. x

It's Friday...

Thank heavens, it's Friday! Having had a busy week with more organising and sorting (only 4 more sleeps until the visitors arrive), I've finally had the opportunity to put my feet up with a cup of tea, some delicious goodies, and a magazine. Fully refreshed, I'm hoping to dust down the sewing machine and start a project over the next few days - fingers crossed!

Wishing you all a lovely weekend. xx

Desperately seeking flowers...

I saw this today in the supermarket and thought it would be perfect for our guest room. Ever since we moved to our apartment, I've been in a bit of a quandary over what to do about fresh flowers. Back home I used to have them in the kitchen all the time, but here there doesn't seem to be the same sort of choice. I'm obviously missing daffodils and hyacinths, and although you can buy the latter here, I'm sure they'd wilt pretty quickly in this heat (a bit like me)! I think what I'd really like to do is have a potted orchid for our dining table, but I've only really managed to find large pots, so whilst we have some beautiful orchids on our balcony...

there's still nothing on our table. Anyhow, we have our first UK visitors coming over next week - my parents are coming, hurray - so I thought these would brighten up the guest room for them...

And as they're not real, I don't need to worry about them attracting any bugs!

Have a good week everyone xx
